Siyokoy are vicious, deadly, human hating horrors of Philippine myths. Unlike more traditional merpeople, Siyokoy are bestial in appearance with legs, and scaley skin, covered in fins and tentacles. These monstrous mermen are protectors of the ocean and see humans as a threat to their domain. Disasters at sea are said to be caused by Siyokoy. They will attack ships, killing and even eating those aboard and claiming everything of use on the vessel. Siyokoy are all male and despite their hatred of humans, will occasionally take on human mates. Aquatic animals tend to follow the Siyokoy and join in their bounty, acting more aggressive than they normally would. These mixed schools usually involve creatures such as sharks, rays, squids, and octopi.
